This deliciously cheesy Freezer-friendly Garlic Bread is ideal to prepare and store in the freezer until you are ready to thaw it out, bake it and serve it with barbecues, pasta or pizza.

  • Total Time: 20 mins
  • Yield: 4

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large baguette
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp freshly minced garlic
  • ½ tsp sea salt flakes
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
  • 4 tbsp freshly grated mozzarella (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) (180°C/350°F fan-forced).
  2. Cut the baguette in half, then slice the bread into 2 cm (¾ inch) thick slices, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  3. Combine the butter, garlic, salt and parsley in a small bowl.
  4. Spread the butter mixture over each side of the bread slices.
  5. Stuff a pinch of mozzarella between each bread slice, if using.
  6. Wrap each baguette half in foil (see below for freezing instructions).
  7. If serving immediately, bake the foil-wrapped garlic bread for 15–18 minutes until golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Notes

MAKE AHEAD

Follow steps 2–6. Freeze for up to 2 months wrapped in foil. To bake, remove directly from the freezer (leave wrapped in the foil) and bake in a preheated 200°C (400°F) (180°C/350°F fan-forced) oven for 18–22 minutes.

LEFTOVERS

Once cooked, the bread is best served and eaten immediately.
