Ingredients
PATTIES
500gregular minced (ground) beef (not extra lean)
100gbreadcrumbs
1egg
1tbspWorcestershire sauce
1tbspketchup
1tspsea salt flakes
BURGERS
4middle slices of bacon (lean bacon)
Olive oil spray
4slicesgouda cheese
4brioche buns
1tomato, sliced
½onion, sliced
60gcanned beetroot (beet)
60gsliced gherkins (dill pickles)
60gmayonnaise
60 gketchup
60gyellow mustard
Instructions
Preheat – Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350°F).
Form the patties – Place the burger patty ingredients in a large bowl and use your hands to combine. Split the mixture into four equal portions and form into patties.
Air fry the bacon – Cook the bacon in the air fryer for 6–8 minutes or until golden. Once cooked, set aside.
Spray the patties with oil and cook in the air fryer for 8–10 minutes.
Air fry the patties – Add a slice of gouda cheese to each patty, followed by a slice of bacon. Cook in the air fryer for one more minute.
Warm the buns – Remove the patties from the air fryer and heat the brioche buns in the air fryer for 2 minutes.
Serve – Serve the beef and bacon burgers topped with tomato, onion, beetroot, pickles, mayonnaise, ketchup and yellow mustard.
Notes
MAKE AHEAD
Refrigerate uncooked burger patties for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Store in an airtight container or reusable sandwich bag. Use baking (parchment) paper between the layers if needed to stop the patties from sticking. Thaw completely in the fridge overnight before use. Cook as per the recipe.
LEFTOVERS
Store leftover cooked beef patties in the fridge for up to 3 days. Microwave to reheat. Not suitable to freeze.
