5 Minute Garlic Bread

Whether you have slices of sourdough, a baguette or leftover rolls on hand, this recipe is perfect for satisfying your cravings for delicious, indulgent garlic bread in no time at all. With a simple yet fantastic garlic butter, you can load up your bread with maximum flavour and enjoy the most satisfying snack or side dish. Best of all, this recipe takes less than 5 minutes to make!

  • Total Time: 10 mins
  • Yield: 4-6 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp garlic, freshly minced
  • 1 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 baguette, cut into thick 1.5cm slices
  • 1.5 cups grated melting cheese (see note 1) optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven grill.
  2. Melt the butter in 10-second intervals in the microwave until it softens (it will take roughly 20 seconds).
  3. Mix in garlic, parsley and salt using a spoon.
  4. Spread the butter mixture on one side of the bread slices.
  5. Top each slice with the grated cheese.
  6. Place your bread on a baking tray (use two trays if needed so that no pieces overlap). Grill for 2-5 minutes. They will cook quickly. Keep an eye on them.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

Note 1 – Mozzarella or tasty cheese is best. Pre-shredded cheese can be used but contains additives. It doesn’t melt as well as freshly grated cheese.

MAKE AHEAD – Follow the recipe up until step 5. Refrigerate, covered, for up to 24 hours. Cook as per the recipe. Check out my Freezer Friendly Garlic Bread for a freezer alternative.

LEFTOVERS – Best consumed immediately once cooked.
